All of us have been going through hell, through the pandemic. For Tabla maestro Anuradha Pal, it has been a time of giving – be it sending monetary help to over 350 marginalised Tribal, folk and classical musicians, Instrument makers and their families across 20 states of India, performing & teaching Online to spread the beauty of Indian Music and help people across the world ‘Beat the Blues’, providing food ration and blankets to over 270 poor women & children in villages, donating walkers, masks, gloves etc to Covidcare facilities in Mumbai, instituting awards to encourage girls towards music/ dance & social service and helping Musicians earn online with self respect, through the ‘Aatmanirbhar Kala Ke Sangh Festival’.

Anuradha Pal is involved in several charity projects and social service in India

  • July 2020 – During Covid Lockdown, Anuradha launched the ‘Kala Ke Sangh’ initiative and took painstaking efforts to reach help to the most marginalised communities in the villages like Meghwal, Bhil, Manganiar, Lakha, Jogi, Garo, Kathodi, Koch-Rajbongshi, Dhadi tribal musicians, Charkula, Ponung, Matka Bhawai, Terahtali, Kalbeliya dancers, Manta Drummers, Kathputli artists, Knife jugglers and Bahurupiyas etc.
  • Over 1 year, Anuradha has already given Rs 10 lakh of financial help, transferred Food ration and money directly to over 350 Tribal, Folk, Classical, Orchestra musicians and Bar singers and traditional musical instrument makers, spread across 20 states of India – Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, West Bengal, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, New Delhi, Haryana, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Uttarakhand & Punjab.
  • Sept 2020Donated 81 superb reference books in memory of her late father and doyen of the Pharmaceutical industry, Mr Devinder Pal, to the Bombay College of Pharmacy library, through Indian Pharmaceutical Association (IPA).
  • Oct 2020 – Instituted the Padmashri M.T. Vyas Stree Shakti Award to encourage young girls practicing Indian music or dance towards social service. The then Union Education minister Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ presented the award which carried a Kisan Vikas Patra of Rs 1,11,111.
  • Jan 2021 – Organised ‘Aatmanirbhar Kala Ke Sangh Music Festival‘ in Jan 2021 and gave payment and opportunity to 25 marginalized Folk and Classical musicians from 9 states to perform online and facilitated mobile wallets so they could monetize their art further.
  • Feb 2021 – Launched Stree Shakti Urja Initiative and distributed Blankets, food and medical help to over 200 Bhil tribal women and children in Kasniyawad Village near Udaipur, Rajasthan.
  • May 2021Donated wheel chairs, walker, masks and gloves to BMC and MLC Covid facilities in Mumbai.
  • June 2021 – Continued Stree Shakti URJA initiative to reach food ration to 50 poor, disabled, widowed and disadvantaged women in rural India.
  • Oct 2021 – Donated Mobile phone and clothes etc to children in Mumbai to study online.
  • Nov 2021 – Sent Food Ration to 20 poor households in villages, to brighten up their Diwali.
  • Dec 2021sHonoured four young girls from Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan & Madhya Pradesh, with the Padmashri M. T. Vyas Stree Shakti award 2021 for practicing Indian Music/ Dance and also being involved in social initiatives like preserving & propagating folk & tribal art forms, brightening the lives of young cancer patients through music & dance, creating awareness about climate change, female foeticide, sustainable development & raising funds for poor households during the cover pandemic. The award was presented in a grand online ceremony in the presence of Dr. Kiran Bedi, Usha Uthup, Anup Jalota, Shaina NC, Sandeep Marwah among various luminaries from the fields of business, education, social service, arts and culture.
  • Anuradha regularly contributes to Indian army, Animal welfare, Cancer charities and Nation building.

Kala Ke Sangh Festival (August 2020)

To raise awareness about the total economic breakdown for marginalised musicians across the country, Anuradha Pal’s organisation Sur aaur Saaz (SAS) curated & produced the FIRST EVER Online 4 Day Music Fundraiser festival called Kala Ke Sangh featuring 27 Top Musicians like Bhajan Samrat Anup Jalota, Pt Satish Vyas, Ustad Iqbal Ahmed Khan, Sanjeev & Ashwani Shankar, to name a few. This festival was shared live on 1st, 2nd, 9th & 15th August, on @SASevents page on Facebook & Youtube to raise donations from over 1 million followers (including partner pages).
